We’ve continued improving the mod upload experience, this time with a focus on media handling.
You can now drag and drop images directly into the mod description, and it’s much easier to adjust them too, with drag-to-scale support making image setup feel a lot more intuitive. These changes are aimed at smoothing out one of the fiddliest parts of the upload process and making it quicker to get everything looking right before publishing. You can try it out now!

Since our last roundup, we’ve made a series of follow-up improvements to the new downloaded file naming system based on your feedback.
That includes updating filenames for new file versions, bringing older v3 uploads into line with the newer convention, and adding more useful identifying information to downloaded filenames such as game-scoped IDs and timestamps. We’ve also been improving the supporting download logic behind the scenes so those filenames stay more consistent and reliable across the newer upload flow.
We know changes like this can have a real impact on existing tools and workflows, so we’ve continued iterating on the system rather than treating the initial rollout as finished.

Collection Curators bring incredible value to our community, and we’re always looking for better ways to appreciate their hard work. In the same way Verified Mod Authors have a recognised place in the community, we want to build something comparable for curators. We are currently exploring new avenues for recognition for curators to ensure their contributions get the celebrated status they deserve. We’ll have more to share as these plans take shape!

The new File Requirement feature is officially out in the wild! But as any modder knows, launch day is just the beginning. This past month, we’ve shifted gears from shipping the core feature to making sure it’s completely bulletproof.
And with that, we’re pleased to announce that DLC requirements have also been added, meaning you’ll now be told whether or not a mod requires DLC to be installed in order to work.
Alongside this, July was all about the heavy lifting behind the scenes: squashing bugs and cleaning up those weird edge cases. We’ve spent a lot of time making sure the shiny new file requirements blend perfectly with older mod dependencies so your modding experience stays smooth, consistent, and easy to read. For Vortex users, exciting stuff on the horizon; as we’ve been working on integrating the new File Requirements system inside Vortex too!
