Welcome back to another monthly roundup! July has been a massive month of updates here at Nexus Mods and, much like getting back to Ithaca, shipping these big updates can feel a bit like an odyssey at times, but we’re thrilled to share with you what we've been working on.
Oh! And if you missed site owner Victor's ([url=

Donation Points Store Updates

We are making solid progress on bringing the updated Donation Points store to life!
Our main goal is to offer a wider variety of options across more regions, so keep an eye out for new items and features coming soon. If you live in an area where PayPal support was previously limited or unavailable, we may have some exciting news on the horizon.
Handling store and payout systems requires extra care, so while we’re working hard behind the scenes, we are taking the necessary time to get everything right. Thank you for your patience as we finalise this update!
Upload Form - Media Handling
We’ve continued improving the mod upload experience, this time with a focus on media handling.
You can now drag and drop images directly into the mod description, and it’s much easier to adjust them too, with drag-to-scale support making image setup feel a lot more intuitive. These changes are aimed at smoothing out one of the fiddliest parts of the upload process and making it quicker to get everything looking right before publishing. You can try it out now!
We even put together a fun video showing it off, which you can view here:

Downloaded File Names
Since our last roundup, we’ve made a series of follow-up improvements to the new downloaded file naming system based on your feedback.
That includes updating filenames for new file versions, bringing older v3 uploads into line with the newer convention, and adding more useful identifying information to downloaded filenames such as game-scoped IDs and timestamps. We’ve also been improving the supporting download logic behind the scenes so those filenames stay more consistent and reliable across the newer upload flow.
We know changes like this can have a real impact on existing tools and workflows, so we’ve continued iterating on the system rather than treating the initial rollout as finished.
Celebrating Collection Curators
Collection Curators bring incredible value to our community, and we’re always looking for better ways to appreciate their hard work. In the same way Verified Mod Authors have a recognised place in the community, we want to build something comparable for curators. We are currently exploring new avenues for recognition for curators to ensure their contributions get the celebrated status they deserve. We’ll have more to share as these plans take shape!
API Updates
We’ve expanded our API capabilities this month by introducing a [url=
https://api-docs.nexusmods.com/#tag/mods/operation/addModChangelogEntries]new API endpoint for updating mod changelogs, closing one of the last gaps in allowing fully automated mod updates via the API.
Alongside this release, three [url=
https://api-docs.nexusmods.com/#tag/collections]Collections API endpoints have now been marked as stable following minor refinements to improve predictability, including key updates to the PATCH endpoint.
Install Success
Collections Become Even More Reliable

Making sure Collections install smoothly and reliably remains one of our top priorities. We know there is nothing more frustrating than getting halfway through downloading a massive load order only for it to fail, and we want both users and curators to feel completely confident in the process.
Recently, the team has been laser-focused on tackling the most disruptive problems first. We've been investigating why some installations fail to finish cleanly, fixing underlying bugs, and addressing unexpected hiccups that pop up depending on your specific setup.
Instead of just patching the symptoms, we’re digging deep to fix the root causes of these bugs so we can offer a truly seamless experience. Have your recent Collection downloads been smoother? Let us know in the comments!
Refining File Requirements
The new File Requirement feature is officially out in the wild! But as any modder knows, launch day is just the beginning. This past month, we’ve shifted gears from shipping the core feature to making sure it’s completely bulletproof.
And with that, we’re pleased to announce that DLC requirements have also been added, meaning you’ll now be told whether or not a mod requires DLC to be installed in order to work.
Alongside this, July was all about the heavy lifting behind the scenes: squashing bugs and cleaning up those weird edge cases. We’ve spent a lot of time making sure the shiny new file requirements blend perfectly with older mod dependencies so your modding experience stays smooth, consistent, and easy to read. For Vortex users, exciting stuff on the horizon; as we’ve been working on integrating the new File Requirements system inside Vortex too!

Making File Version History Clearer
We know that looking at a massive list of mod files can sometimes be a little overwhelming, so instead of just showing you a flat list of uploads, we’re working on a feature that clearly shows how all those files relate to each other over time.
Our goal is to make it super easy to see which file is the newest, which ones are older versions, and how a mod has evolved from version to version. This should give you a much more intuitive way to browse a mod's history, pick the exact version you need for your game, and understand the update path at a single glance.

Vortex Updates Keep on Coming
The Vortex release train keeps on chugging, and this past month you will have seen [url=
https://github.com/Nexus-Mods/Vortex/releases/#release-v2.4.0]Vortex 2.4 officially wrapped up and released! As always though, we’re not stopping there and have already begun work on Vortex 2.5.
It has been really rewarding to see our release schedule settling into such a healthy, continuous rhythm of shipping, validating, and improving to give you the best experience possible, and we hope you’re feeling the support too, with regular releases straight to your hard drive.
Download Improvements
Downloading a mod should be as streamlined as possible to get you playing right away. Previously, when you’d go to download a mod, you’d see 4 or 5 different modals or options that would appear depending on the requirements (if any), whether you had Premium or not, and other conditions. We’ve now unified everything into a single consistent experience!
Another exciting development this month is our progress on making massive file downloads much easier to handle. Previously, we were testing the waters to see if a more resilient download method was technically possible. Now, we’re actively building the experience around it! Currently, the size limit for what we regard as one of these large files is anything bigger than 500MB. Let us know if you think this is too high or low; we’d love to know your thoughts on it.
In July, our focus shifted to how this will actually look on your end. We’ve been figuring out how resumable downloads should behave, making disk-space warnings clearer, and finding better ways to display your download speeds and ETAs.
It also means that this work is no longer just a behind-the-scenes experiment; and is now in your hands! It’s about creating a seamless journey from start to finish, as we know that when you’re downloading massive mods, reliability is key, but you also need to know exactly what’s happening every step of the way.
Platform
A big chunk of our time this month went into the essential work that keeps Nexus Mods running smoothly. We tackled our regular infrastructure maintenance, applied the latest security updates to keep your data safe, and rolled out various stability improvements across the site to make sure that Nexus Mods remains fast, secure, and reliable for millions of downloads every single day.
25th Anniversary Mod Drive
Our 25th Anniversary celebrations have arrived! Check out the announcement post of everything we're doing [url=

As a reminder, this is a platform-wide community event running throughout August and September, bringing mod authors together from across Nexus Mods in support of[url=
https://msf.org.uk/] Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF). We’re incredibly excited about this one, not just because it marks 25 years of Nexus Mods, but because it’s a chance to celebrate the creativity of this community while raising money for a genuinely important cause.
If you’re thinking of taking part, have a look at the [url=
