Paths to Healing and Reconnection
Sacred Allies, Not Trends: Kambo, Ayahuasca, and Bufo
An Open Call Hosted by CC with a special Guest Speaker
Carmen joins us from Pisac, Peru. She is an experienced ceremonial facilitator and guide, working alongside her dedicated team within healing communities rooted in Amazonian tradition.
Through her Facebook group, Gene Keys, Human Design and Plant Medicine, Carmen and her team bridge contemplative systems with sacred plant medicine practices that encourages participants to approach this work with clarity, responsibility, and reverence.
In their work with Kambo, Ayahuasca, and Bufo, Carmen and her team emphasize that these are sacred medicines, not trends and never tools for escape. They are not meant to bypass reality or avoid personal responsibility, but to illuminate dimensions of ourselves and existence that are often hidden from ordinary awareness. When approached with humility, preparation, ethical guidance, and committed integration, these medicines can support physical cleansing, emotional release, spiritual insight, and profound remembrance of wholeness.
Drawing from years of observation, ceremony, and integration support, Carmen will share insights into Kambo, Ayahuasca, and Bufo, including their distinct roles in physical cleansing, spiritual awakening, and personal transformation. This conversation offers an opportunity to explore these ancient allies with discernment, humility, and reverence for the Indigenous wisdom that has preserved them.
In our healing communities and retreats here in Peru, certain sacred medicines frequently arise in conversation: Kambo, Ayahuasca, and Bufo. They are ancient ceremonial allies woven into Indigenous Amazonian traditions for generations to foster healing, spiritual growth, and reconnection with the self, community, and the natural world.
Each medicine offers its own distinct uses, addressing the body, heart, spirit, and clearing deeply held ancestral or inherited patterns in our DNA in profoundly different ways.
Kambo: The Deep Physical Cleanser
Drawn from the skin secretion of the giant monkey frog, Kambo has been used traditionally by tribes such as the Huni Kuin, (who's name means "true people" or "people with traditions") and Yawanawa tribes of the Amazon basin to dispel stagnation that diminishes vitality, clarity, and well-being.
In ceremony, small burns are made on the skin and the secretion is applied, provoking an intense physical purge that includes vomiting, sweating, flushing, and elevated heart rate. The focus is somatic, offering a full body reset that many describe as clearing accumulated heaviness.
Kambo cleanses the body. Many experience increased energy, sharpened focus, and emotional lightness afterward. For this reason, it is often seen as preparation for deeper emotional or spiritual work, clearing energetic blockages to create greater receptivity.
Ayahuasca: Grandmother, the Visionary Teacher
Ayahuasca is a sacred plant brew made from the vine, she is affectionately known as Grandmother.
Ceremonies are guided by shamans who sing sacred healing songs that shape and protect the journey. Ayahuasca often invites vivid visions, emotional catharsis, and profound insights. Ayahuasca is said to open portals or receive information from the Akashic records (the cosmic library).
Traditionally she is used to uncover hidden patterns, heal trauma, and restore spiritual alignment.
Modern observational studies have reported reductions in symptoms of depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress among participants, along with improvements in overall well-being. These outcomes arise within the full ceremonial container that includes intention, guidance, preparation, and careful integration afterward.
Bufo & The Release of The Nervous System
Bufo refers to the secretion of the Sonoran Desert toad, containing 5-MeO DMT. Administered through vaporization and inhalation, the experience is brief, typically ten to thirty minutes, yet extraordinarily intense.
Bufo often dissolves identity entirely. Many describe complete ego dissolution, a direct immersion into non dual awareness, unity, or pure consciousness.
The release is often deeply somatic. Stored memories, trauma, or long held tension may feel as though they dissolve effortlessly. The nervous system unwinds. The body softens. A profound peace can emerge.
This process is less about analyzing personal narrative and more about remembering wholeness.
Honoring the Differences
* Kambo cleanses the body physically and energetically, preparing the foundation.
* Ayahuasca teaches through vision and emotional depth, guiding the heart and mind.
* Bufo dissolves separation in an instant, enabling profound somatic release and unity.
None of these are recreational substances. They belong within sacred, intentional contexts supported by ethical and experienced guidance, clear intention, preparation, and dedicated integration.
Integration afterward is essential. A powerful experience without grounded reflection can lead to confusion rather than transformation. True healing unfolds not only in ceremony, but in the days, weeks, and months that follow.
A Collective Reflection
In Peru and beyond, we witness how these ancient allies, when approached with humility and reverence for their Indigenous roots, can support authentic personal healing and contribute to a broader collective awakening.
As we prepare for our upcoming interview, we will explore questions that echo many of your own reflections:
* What draws people to these medicines amid widespread disconnection?
* How vital are preparation, safety, and integration for enduring transformation?
* How do these practices align with the larger journey of personal and collective change?
This call is for educational and informational purposes only. We do not provide medical advice, and participants are encouraged to research legal considerations and consult qualified professionals before engaging in any plant or amphibian-based medicines.
